1. Den signade dag som vi här nu se
Av himmelen till oss nedkomma
Han blive oss säll, han låte sig te

ENGLISH TRANSLATION / INTERPRETATION

1. This blessed day, which we now see
Descend to us from heaven
May he be content with us, may he show himself,
For the joy and benefit of us all
Yes, may the great Lord today 
Save us from sin and sorrow

2. This blessed day, this blessed time
Each morning, I will bear in mind
That the sun of grace, so wonderful and soft,
Rose to shine for all the world
And the shepherds harkened God's angels in the sky
Who sang that the day had come

3. But like a bird, towards heavenly heights
He ascends on wings spread open
He praises his God, he is joyful and content
As he sweeps across the earth
And so, the soul rises in heartfelt delight
To heaven with songs of praise, and prayer


One of at least three Swedish songs by this name.  My favorite, by far! I particularly like a comment on this amazing YouTube video of the a cappella group Kraja performing this song: “Until yesterday I didn´t believe in the existence of angels.  Now I changed my mind.”
