Putting On The Style

1. Young man in a carriage, driving like mad,
With a pair of horses he borrowed from his dad.
He cracks his whip so lively just to see his lady smile
But she knows he's only putting on the style.

2. Young man home from college, smokes a dirty pipe,

With a big jawbreaker that he can hardly say.
It can't be found in Webster and won't be for a while,
But we know he's only putting on the style.

4. Preacher in the pulpit shouts with all his might,
Glory hallelujah, puts you in a fright.
You would think that Satan's coming down the aisle,
But it's just the preacher putting on the style.

5. Congressman from Washington, looking mighty slick,
Wants to get elected, and go back there real quick.
He beats his breast and hollers, and waves the flag awhile,
But we know he's only putting on the style.
